The Sakakibara Heart Institute is one of the leading hospitals in Japan, where a large number of cardiovascular surgeries are performed. Our clinical team has broad experience in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (coronary angioplasty) for ischemic heart diseases, in valvuloplasty for valvular disorder in adults, and in operations on various congenital heart diseases in children.
In our institute, most of CABG surgeries are performed without using artificial heart-lung machines (off-pump CABG); which procedure require sophisticated medical techniques, and thereby only a limited number of hospitals in the world offer this option. The reduce surgical stress to the patients and eliminate complications involving the machines. In cases of long stenotic lesion, “on-lay grafting”, originally developed at our institute by Dr. Shuichiro Takanashi, is performed substituting the conventional approach; with a longer incision on the hardened coronary artery, the entire atherosclerotic lesion is removed before suturing with a graft.
As a cardiovascular specialty hospital, our institute aims not only to save patients’ lives but also to improve their quality of life after treatment. Specifically, we believe that rehabilitation is essential for patients to regain to their social lives and that the facilities and programs provided by us are greatly contributing to promoting this process. We also provide health checkups are held at the Sakakibara Heart Institute Medical Examination clinic in Shinjuku to complement and reinforce our activity. In order to achieve our goals, physicians and nurses possess the highest knowledge and experience, enabling us to maintain the superior quality of health care.
